1、常压当承压使用
将常压热水锅炉直接和自来水或采暖系统密闭循环。也就是将锅炉本体上与大气相通的排汽管当做回水管使用，使锅炉本体始终处于满水承压状态。这种密闭循环方式有两种危害：第一是当炉水温度过高时，产生的蒸汽无法排泄出去，因而压力会不断上升，爆炸和泄漏事故随时都有可能发生。第二是即使炉水温度不高，不会产生大量蒸汽，但由于有循环泵的作用，锅炉本体承受热水循环压力是较高的。

2、质量差，发展缓慢
常压热水锅炉制造厂发展迅速，出现了产品供大于求的情况，有的生产厂家技术力量薄弱，制造质量差，且各厂家之间竞争非常激烈，相互压价，有的厂家甚至偷工减料。设计不规范。常压热水锅炉与承压锅炉相比，有显著的特点，特别是在热力和水动力方面，因此常压热水锅炉的结构设计应符合其自身的特点。但目前常压热水锅炉设计还不规范，设计时根本不进行热力计算和水动力计算，常压热水锅炉的设计基本上是在承压锅炉的基础上改为开口形式而已，其它结构原样复制，致使锅炉水循环不良，浪费能源。
